Software Development Engineer In Test (Remote)

Job Overview

The DMED Technology team in Santa Monica is seeking a Senior Software Development in Test Engineer to join the Engineering Services team. This role focuses on building test automation and processes to ensure the quality of our advertising systems. Properly functioning systems deliver relevant ads to viewers, driving higher revenue and helping customers discover relevant brands and products. Defects in these systems can negatively impact revenue and viewer experience. This is an opportunity to significantly impact the QE and automation process, as well as the products we release.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Software Engineers to understand the complex advertising ecosystem within DMED Technology.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and suites for UI, API, and integration testing using Python or other object-oriented languages.
• Participate in design discussions to evolve the platform, enabling advanced testing scenarios and improving defect detection and prevention.
• Assist with triaging, diagnosing, and resolving issues across teams.
• Contribute to the development and execution of end-to-end acceptance tests.
• Execute manual test cases when automated testing is not feasible, with a focus on converting manual tests to automated ones whenever possible.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in software test development, covering both functional and non-functional testing.
• Demonstrated passion for driving best practices in testing.
• Proficiency in Python or other object-oriented languages.
• Strong understanding of software engineering practices and agile methodologies.
• Proven ability to establish and improve product quality.
• Experience building or enhancing test automation frameworks.
• Proficiency in CI/CD integration and pipeline development using tools like Jenkins or Spinnaker.
• Familiarity with Gherkin (BDD/TDD).
• A collaborative attitude and willingness to tackle challenges as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong SQL knowledge and database testing experience.
• Experience with server-side and database projects.
• Selenium experience preferred; strong Python skills are a must.

Education Requirements

• Required: B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree/work experience.
• Preferred: M.S. in Computer Science or a similar field.

Additional Information

• Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CST preferred).
• This role is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay.
