Your Tasks
BakerHicks are one of the leading consultancies in the power transmission and distribution sector in the UK and are expanding their power-team in the DACH region and are now seeking an ambitions High-voltage Cable engineer to support this growth.
You will be an experienced engineer in the design and planning of high voltage cable systems from 11kV to 400kV, either onshore or offshore.
This will cover the production of cable system design calculations, cable rating calculations, thermomechanical force and electromagnetic force calculations as well as working with CAD technicians in the production of cable route layouts and trench cross sections.
You must have full working proficiency in German and a good level of English.

- Provide High Voltage Cable systems and installation designs. Act as lead cable engineer / planner
- Work closely with design teams in the UK, ensuring designs are provided in compliance with local standards
- Ensure design scope is delivered on time and within budget
Your Profile
- The candidate must have experience in the production of or management of designs, calculations, report and drawings for HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or HV renewable energy infrastructure, in the DACH region
- The candidate must have full working proficiency in German and a good level of English
- The candidate must have specialist knowledge in High Voltage Substations
- The role will involve occasional travel to BakerHicks offices in Basel and London
Traveling activity
The duration of our projects is usually between 6 and 24 months. Depending on the project and the project phase, the work location is mainly the project location at the customer, although mobile working from home is sometimes possible in consultation with the project management.
