Sr It Project Manager (Remote)

The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful completion of projects by managing all stages of the project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, closure, and acceptance. This role applies industry-standard project management practices and methodologies (as defined by the department) to meet project objectives. The manager oversees the efforts of all project team members, including vendors and consultants, to ensure project success. The position ensures that quality standards are followed, and project deliverables meet departmental specifications.

Key duties involve managing the Triple Constraint (scope, budget, and timeline), leading project planning, facilitating execution and monitoring, resource management, and addressing issues/risks for large, complex projects. Effective communication, both written and verbal, is essential, with a focus on customer communication and educating stakeholders about departmental processes. The Senior IT Project Manager works closely with stakeholders and the project team to resolve or escalate complex project risks and issues in a timely manner. The role also emphasizes fostering positive relationships within the team, mentoring, and training staff.

In addition, the position involves developing and maintaining process documentation, communication standards, and governance frameworks, and leading efforts to continuously improve team processes, standards, functionality, and policies. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Experience: At least six years of experience in project management is required. Experience managing projects in the healthcare sector is preferred.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience is required. A degree in a related field is preferred.

Skills:

• Ability to manage large, complex projects (5000+ hours with multiple project managers) with minimal oversight
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to estimate project deliverables using historical data and other knowledge sources
• Leadership skills and the ability to foster positive team dynamics
• Expertise in managing complex project issues and risks, and knowing when to escalate
• Proficiency in facilitating large Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) planning sessions
• Advanced knowledge of project management, process improvement, and troubleshooting tools such as MS Project, SharePoint, MS Office, and PWA
• Ability to represent the PMO in governance and steering committee meetings
• Skilled in identifying and initiating process improvements and understanding changes affecting project management
• Strong mentoring and relationship-building capabilities

Licensure: A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
