Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities
In the capacity of Western Project Manager, you will implement strategic initiatives that transform ambitious plans into flourishing trails that serve communities. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with project partners to define and advance significant trail projects, overcoming challenges such as community engagement, securing right-of-way access, and navigating public planning processes.
- Providing on-the-ground support by attending regional events such as conferences, groundbreaking ceremonies, and ribbon-cutting events to effectively represent the project and offer strategic insights.
- Engaging in advocacy and policy development by working with advocacy teams to involve government officials and agencies across Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Washington to achieve trail development goals.
- Building and nurturing relationships with Indigenous communities, emphasizing trust, cultural appreciation, and shared objectives for trail access.
- Conducting feasibility studies and preparing comprehensive trail plans to progress trail development.
- Assisting local partners in securing state and federal funding, particularly in regions with limited staffing resources.
- Serving as the spokesperson for western trail initiatives, engaging with media and generating content for social media and organizational platforms.
- Coordinating project administration, stakeholder meetings, route assessments, and reporting processes.
- Identifying and pursuing funding opportunities to facilitate trail development in the designated region.
Required Skills
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing multidisciplinary projects related to community development, advocacy, active transportation, or outdoor recreation.
- Proven proficiency in collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including public officials, government entities, advocacy organizations, and landowners.
- Comprehensive understanding of the trail development process from inception to completion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in leading workshops and community forums.
- Expertise in political advocacy and building consensus, fostering coalitions to advance initiatives.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including evenings and weekends.
- A valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Experience working with Indigenous and tribal communities in the U.S. is a plus.
- Familiarity with ESRI tools such as ArcMap and ArcGIS Online is preferred.

Compensation And Benefits
Salary Range: (58,000-)65,000 annually.
