About the Role:

As the Country Representative for the Japanese Market at WOGI, your primary focus will be on spearheading the establishment of our presence in Japan. This involves building and nurturing strong relationships with partners and clients, with an emphasis on long-term collaboration rather than short-term targets. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day interactions between WOGI and our strategic partners, as well as identifying and onboarding new partners. Working closely with merchants and clients, you will serve as a trusted business consultant, guiding them towards success by creating compelling rewards and incentive programs that drive engagement and foster loyalty.

Key Responsibilities:

Partnership Growth:

  • Merchant and Client Acquisition: Identify and secure new merchants and clients for the company within Japan. This includes building relationships, managing the onboarding process, and ongoing account management.
  • Develop New Partnerships: Proactively source and create innovative partnership opportunities with top brands and payment providers in the market.
  • Client Proposal Development: Build a comprehensive catalog profile highlighting the company’s offerings and tailor proposals to meet client needs.
  • Partnership Identification: Assist in identifying potential partnership opportunities within the market.
  • Partnership Management:
  • Negotiation and Terms: Negotiate merchant terms that align with company goals and are competitive within the market.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain and develop strong relationships with existing partners in Japan to ensure continued growth and satisfaction.

Business Development & Representation:

  • Event Representation: Represent the company at trade exhibitions, industry events, and networking opportunities in Japan to build brand awareness and secure new partnerships.
  • Sales & Marketing Support: Prepare sales presentations, pitch decks, quotations, and other sales materials to support the onboarding of new clients.
  • Competitor Analysis: Monitor competitor activity in the market and provide insights to support the team’s business plan.

Operational Support:

  • Administrative Processes: Manage contract filing, product performance monitoring, purchase orders, invoices, and other administrative tasks related to partnerships.
  • Reporting: Prepare weekly reports for the Line Manager on activities and performance.
  • Project Support: Collaborate with international teams and provide support for all assigned projects relevant to market.

Administration Support:

  • Company Establishment: Assist with the legal establishment of the company in Japan, including working with local legal counsel to navigate incorporation procedures, business licenses, and regulatory compliance.
  • Administration Support: Manage ongoing administrative tasks for the company in Japan, such as Bookkeeping, Banking Partners, Office and Supplier Management.

Key Requirements:

  • Natural people person – enthusiastic individual with a go-getter attitude, immediately bond with others and are able to quickly build strong relationships
  • Experience in identifying and securing new business opportunities, with a strong understanding of the partnership lifecycle (sourcing, negotiation, onboarding, management)
  • Proven ability to negotiate win-win partnership agreements that align with both the company’s and the potential partner’s goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships with potential and existing partners.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in partnership in a startup environment or corporate setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
  • This position will be based in Tokyo, Japan
