Overall purpose

The marketing manager plays a fundamental role in driving business growth through the promotion of the Valpak brand and its services. It will collaborate with key people within the business, group and external stakeholders in strategy creation and implement the plan using an in-house marketing team, group and external resources.

We are looking for an experienced marketing manager with the ambition and passion to lead the marketing team, taking a prominent circular economy brand forward into an exciting future. You will be confident to challenge the business, seek continuous improvement, have a focus on delivering effective, measurable marketing activity and inspire the marketing team to achieve their goals.

Key areas of responsibility

• Brand management – developing consistent messaging and engaging content
• Lead role in the creation of the marketing strategy
• Ownership of the marketing plan, creating and reporting on a set of clear performance metrics
• Prepare and monitor the marketing budget, allocating funds wisely
• Supporting the business with innovation of services
• Working with the sales team to develop experiment and implement new customer acquisition programmes using a variety of channels.
• Supervise and/or create marketing collateral
• Coordinating external communications
• Planning events
• Coordinating cross-functional teams
• Analyse market trends, evaluate return on marketing investment, customer behaviour, interest and competition to adjust campaigns accordingly
• Build strong relationship with media, trade associations and vendors
• Support internal communications
• Line manage four Marketing Executives

Candidate requirements

Essential

• 5 years in marketing management, preferably with experience of a B2B professional services proposition
• Educated to a degree level or equivalent marketing qualification
• Experience in managing stakeholders at a senior level
• Ability to be agile and continuously innovate, create new ideas and execute them quickly
• Key focus on team development and supporting direct reports to flourish
• Strong project and organisational skills
• Experience using email marketing tools and integrating with CRM
• SEO and PPC knowledge
• Great communication skills – presenting complicated subjects in simple terms

Desirable

• Experience working in Environmental Services, Resource Management or adjacent sectors
• Prior experience with WordPress, Hubspot and Microsoft Dynamics (CRM)
• Ability to write compelling marketing copy and thought leadership content
• Strong numerical skills – creating, understanding and acting on marketing effectiveness metrics and insight
• Demonstrate previous examples of implementing and complex, multi-phased managing marketing automation campaigns
