Role Overview

As the first Full Stack Developer, you will be the cornerstone of their technical team, responsible for leading the development and architecture of applications. You will work closely with the founding team to establish best practices, create robust solutions, and build a strong technical foundation that supports growth. Your expertise will also help harness platforms like Retool to accelerate and streamline application development for their clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Development Efforts: Drive the end-to-end development of applications, from planning and design to deployment and maintenance.
• Front-End Development: Build user-centric, responsive web interfaces using JavaScript, React, and modern UI/UX frameworks.
• Back-End Development: Architect and implement server-side logic and APIs using frameworks like Node.js or similar.
• Database Management: Design, optimize, and manage relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and write efficient SQL queries.
• Retool Expertise: Leverage Retool to design and deploy internal tools and dashboards efficiently for both internal and client-facing applications.
• System Architecture: Establish scalable, secure, and maintainable system architectures that support the agency and client needs.
• Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Code Quality: Establish and enforce coding standards, testing protocols, and documentation practices.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to future developers as the team expands.
• Task Breakdown: Break down solutions into manageable developmental tasks for efficient project execution.

Required Skills & Experience (Still apply if you don’t meet all!)

• 7+ years of professional experience as a full stack developer or in a related role.
• Proven ability to design and manage scalable solutions as a technical lead or sole developer.
• Proficiency with JavaScript (ES6+), React, and front-end frameworks.
• Strong back-end development experience using Node.js, Python, or similar technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ability to write complex SQL queries.
• Experience with API design (REST or GraphQL) and third-party integrations.
• Solid understanding of version control (e.g., Git) and DevOps pipelines (e.g., CI/CD, cloud deployments).
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
• Familiarity with TypeScript for building scalable JavaScript applications.
• Background in client-facing roles or agency experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Retool and its application in building internal tools or dashboards.
