Woodall Nicholson is recruiting for an exciting role to support the growth agenda in its bus division. We are UK’s leading specialty vehicle manufacturer with multiple divisions designing, developing, and delivering innovative solutions in the commercial vehicle sector. Our Mellor and Treka bus manufacturing entities are market leaders in the segments they operate, supplying market-leading vehicles to both public and private companies in the passenger transportation sector.
The Bus Area Sales Manager, reporting to the Head of Sales (Bus Division), is primarily responsible for driving sales of Mellor and Treka vehicles within a designated territory. The role focuses on achieving and surpassing annual sales targets by fostering existing client relationships and developing new customer accounts. A key aspect of the role involves defining and implementing a business development strategy, supported by regular market intelligence reporting, CRM management, and pipeline updates. You will be a key person in driving the sales growth strategy and work with various internal teams and external stakeholders is integral to ensuring seamless order fulfilment and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales and Business Development: The role entails creating and executing a robust sales plan aligned with the company’s objectives. This includes gathering competitive market insights, maintaining updated CRM records, and delivering periodic activity reports to the Head of Sales. Participation in trade events and customer visits further supports brand promotion and market penetration. The individual is also involved in drafting detailed specifications for vehicle orders and managing amendments to ensure alignment with customer expectations.
2. Key Account Management: The Area Sales Manager is tasked with managing designated key accounts, which typically include major rental companies, transportation groups, and large public transport authorities. This involves maintaining strong relationships through regular interactions, identifying sales opportunities, and providing timely updates on contracts and fleet performance. Quarterly account reviews and cross-functional meetings are essential for addressing aftermarket support, gathering feedback on product improvement, and sustaining a competitive edge.
3. Cross-Functional Contributions: Active participation in Sales and Operating Planning processes and monthly sales meetings ensures alignment with broader business objectives. The role also supports tender preparation and annual sales planning alongside the Head of Sales and commercial support teams.
4. Professional Representation: The Area Sales Manager represents the company with professionalism and diligence in all internal and external interactions, ensuring a positive image of the brand and fostering trust among clients and partners.
This role demands a proactive approach to sales, a strong commitment to relationship management, and effective collaboration across teams to drive business growth and uphold customer satisfaction.
5. Experience: The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of sales success and client relationship development. Ideally, you will have 5 years’ experience within the transport, manufacturing or automotive led industries. Sector experience is not essential however, as this is a relationship driven role, you should be self-driven, pro-active and be able to establish and maintain excellent customer-focused business relationships. You will be results orientated with excellent negotiating and problem-solving skills. A full driving license will be required.
