Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the comprehensive management of civil underground utility and bridge construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to budgetary and timeline requirements while upholding the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate project plans and activities to achieve defined objectives.
- Monitor project budgets and timelines regularly, providing a forward-looking 2-3 week plan to anticipate potential challenges.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive project reports, encompassing progress updates, cost projections, and performance metrics.
- Foster collaborative communication with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
- Manage critical project documentation, including pay applications, RFIs, purchase orders, and change orders.
- Coordinate resource allocation with the General Superintendent for optimal project execution.
- Represent the company in project meetings, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
- Identify and proactively address any challenges or opportunities that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Supervise project teams to ensure compliance with company standards and safety regulations.
- Review engineering plans and specifications for accuracy and constructability.
- Mentor and guide Project Engineers, Office Engineers, and Project Assistants, fostering their professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies related to site work.
- Utilize expertise in heavy civil construction, materials, equipment, and risk management throughout the project process.
Required Skills
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects or multiple smaller projects concurrently.
- Experience leading teams of Project Engineers, Office Engineers, and Project Assistants.
- Strong understanding of construction contract law, with the ability to negotiate effectively on change orders and subcontracts.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to articulate complex information clearly.
- Excellent organizational abilities and time management skills, enabling effective prioritization of tasks.
- A solution-oriented approach with decisiveness in problem-solving.
- Proficiency in project management software, including tools such as ProCore, Primavera, HeavyJob, or Viewpoint, along with MS Word and Excel.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or substantial relevant project management experience.
- Demonstrated experience in overseeing large projects or multiple smaller projects through effective management.
- Experience supervising teams within a construction setting and handling project documentation efficiently.
