Standardization Engineer and Open XR Optics Forum Coordinator

Role Overview:
Serve as subject matter expert on optical transmission systems in standardization organizations such as IEEE, ITU-T, OIF, ETSI, IETF, and other relevant bodies. Coordinate Infinera’s contributions and collaborate with members and partners to promote XR Optics within the optical communications industry. Work with other standardization groups, MSAs, and industry initiatives to establish XR Optics and maintain Infinera as a key player in the optical communications sector.

Key Responsibilities:
- Standards Work: Engage as subject matter expert in standardization bodies on optical transceivers and transmission systems to support Infinera’s product strategy in organizations such as IEEE, ITU-T, OIF, ETSI, IETF, and other relevant bodies.
- Standardization Coordination: Coordinate standardization contributions to different standardization bodies on Infinera technologies, including XR Optics related technologies and other technologies.
- Strategy Execution: Support and execute Infinera’s XR Optics strategy focusing on standardization, interoperability, and multi-sourcing.
- Forum Management: Plan, prepare, and conduct Open XR Optics Forum meetings.

Specification Development:
- Identify and coordinate relevant standards and interoperability specifications.
- Define, prioritize, and develop new specifications.
- Prepare contributions to specifications and oversee their review and documentation.
- White Papers: Conceptualize, create, and publish white papers.
- Technical Demonstrations: Plan, coordinate, and execute technical demonstrations and proof-of-concept tests.
- Marketing Management: Oversee the marketing activities of the Open XR Optics Forum.
Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree (PhD preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Optical Communications, or a related field.
- Technical background and skillset to serve as subject matter expert on optical transceivers and transmission in standardization meetings in organizations such as IEEE, ITU-T, OIF, ETSI, IETF, and other relevant bodies.
- Product development and product management experience in the optical communications industry.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Prior knowledge of XR Optics is considered a strong benefit.
- Ability to travel as needed for standardization meetings and conferences.

may be updated by the U.S. government from time to time. The current processing time for an export control license is approximately 4 to 6 months.
