Java Ai Lead Engineer (Remote)

Position Overview

Open English is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead/Senior Java Software Engineer with some experience in Python/Django and Generative AI to join our team. As a Java Lead/Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building applications/APIs leveraging cutting-edge Generative AI and Large Language Model technologies. You will be taking charge of designing, implementing, and optimizing AI initiatives within our company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver innovative AI solutions that meet business needs within time and cost constraints.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team, mentoring junior engineers, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Research, design, code, document, and test new AI-related solutions.
• Ensure the highest software quality and performance, conducting code reviews, design reviews, and performance scans.
• Develop and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications and APIs.
• Work with the Architect and Project Manager within the organization to implement agreed-upon designs.
• Assist in the enforcement of development deadlines and schedules under Agile Methodologies.
• Create and implement automated unit test scripts.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
• 7+ years of software development experience building, maintaining, documenting, and supporting highly scalable and highly available REST APIs.
• 5+ years developing using Spring frameworks (Spring 5, SpringBoot) and Hibernate.
• 1+ years experience in AI development, working with GenAI technologies (prompt engineering, text-to-speech(TTS), speech-to-text(STT), etc..), machine learning, personalization, etc…
• Strong programming skills in Java (JDK 9+), with a deep understanding of the language’s ecosystem and best practices.
• Experience in distributed multi-tier systems and client-server architectures is required.
• RDBMS experience with databases like Postgres, MySQL, etc.
• Experience with Maven
• Knowledge of Jenkins or similar tools, CI/CD flows.
• Experience with unit testing, particularly with JUnit, and mocking frameworks, i.e Mockito.
• Fluency in English language.
