Positions Description
Nation Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Administrative Services (DAS) is responsible for providing timely, informative, responsible communications to our customers to keep staff abreast of developments at the agency, changes to policy or procedure, and other important happenings. DAS communications should tell customers what they need to know in time for them to take action, include details customers should know, and ensure that the information provided is accurate. Information is provided to customers and staff through weekly newsletter articles, intranet web pages and customer service portals, email messages, and other electronic and print media such as posters, flyers, brochures, and similar publications. The Strategic Communications Support Specialist will perform the following:
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic communications designed to promote and raise awareness of initiatives among a variety of audiences internal and external to the organization.
- Create and make updates to organization-wide messaging and communications in a variety of formats.
- Ensure the consistency of content, language, and tone for all deliverables.
- Conceptualize and develop a wide variety of information materials.
- Develop communication plans and assist with execution, tracking, and reporting
- Plan, develop, and schedule communication project timelines.
- Track communication deliverables using appropriate tools.
- Monitor and report on progress of deliverables to all stakeholders.
- Present reports defining communication plan progress, problems, and solutions.
- Make every effort to limit issues with NSF business and/or organization deliverables provided by contractor personnel.
- Track project progress to meet customers’ deadlines. Communicate throughout the project and inform the client of unexpected delays or if changes in the scope will delay the desired delivery date.
- Effectively understand client job needs and communicate them to other personnel who may not understand clients’ perceptions. This additional guidance and oversight will aid in providing the clarify needed for effective performance.
Requirements
- Experience creating and executing strategic communications initiatives to implement organizational change, leadership messaging, strategy development and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience with Office 365 Collaboration Tools: MS Teams/Lists/Planner
- Experience with MS Word with track changes for editorial processes
- Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) for website editing
- Experience with CRM/Ticketing systems for project management
- Excellent customer relations skills with the ability to communicate effectively with and for senior-level officials and assist them in the process of communicating the organization’s message.
- Excellent professional writing skills and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated competence in research and planning skills to support outreach activities.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and track tasks
- Demonstrated ability to develop well-written business correspondence and reports.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or Communications. Other degrees will be considered if experience demonstrates capability.
Salary: $75 – $80K DOE
