With customers in over 100 countries served by more than 50,000 employees, TK Elevator achieved sales of around €9 billion in fiscal year 2022/2023. We ensure high levels of customer service globally from our extensive network of about 1,000 locations. Over the past several decades, TK Elevator has established itself as one of the world’s leading elevator companies and became independent after separation from the thyssenkrupp group in August 2020. The company’s most important business line is the service business proudly provided by around 25,000 service technicians. The product portfolio ranges from standardized elevators for low-rise residential buildings to highly customized solutions for skyscrapers. In addition, it covers escalators, moving walks, passenger boarding bridges and stair and platform lifts. Integrated cloud-based solutions, such as the MAX platform, are delivering enhanced services. With these digital offerings, there are no longer any limits to urban mobility. TKE – move beyond.
What we expect
We are looking for an experienced Component Leader to oversee the development and maintenance of Controller Protocol Converters (CPCs), key modules enabling communication between elevator controller boards and our embedded systems. This role is critical for ensuring seamless integration of elevator control systems with our broader connectivity solutions, supporting our mission to deliver cutting-edge IoT-enabled elevators. The Component Leader will play a crucial role in bridging deep technical expertise in elevator controllers with leadership skills to guide their team of developers.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead CPC Development and Maintenance: Direct and oversee the development and maintenance of Controller Protocol Converters (CPCs) to ensure seamless communication between various elevator controller boards and the embedded systems. Ensure that all CPC modules meet quality, performance, and compatibility standards while addressing the needs of new controller boards.
Elevator Industry Expertise: Apply extensive knowledge of the elevator industry, including controller board operations, communication protocols (e.g., CAN, RS485, and proprietary protocols), and compliance standards. Ensure that CPC modules are optimized for real-world elevator applications and meet the specific requirements of diverse controller boards.
Team Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of developers and QAs focused on CPC development. Cultivate technical growth within the team by sharing expertise in elevator systems and embedded software development. Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability to achieve high-quality deliverables.
Expand CPC Capabilities: Plan and execute strategies to extend the system’s support for additional elevator controller boards. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify new market requirements and adapt CPC capabilities to meet evolving demands.
Planning and Transparency: Track team progress and ensure alignment with project timelines and deliverables. Maintain clear visibility into development activities, identify risks early, and adjust plans as needed to meet committed deadlines. Report progress and challenges to stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.
Collaboration and Team Work: Work closely with the Technical Leader, Product Owner, other Component Leaders and stakeholders to align CPC development with broader project goals. Collaborate with hardware engineers, platform, application and test automation teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance across the solution.
Who we are looking for

- 7+ years of expertise in the elevator industry, with significant focus on controller boards and communication protocols.
- Strong understanding of elevator controller boards and their communication protocols (e.g., CAN, RS485, proprietary protocols).
- Deep understanding of embedded device product development, including Linux and C++ and hardware and software teams’ collaboration
- Hands-on experience with embedded systems development, particularly with modules and communication protocols between different boards, preferably within the elevator industry.
- Practical experience in developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing CPCs and other embedded software components.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to balance technical and non-technical language based on the audience.
- Familiarity with end-to-end testing approaches and test automation, preferably with hardware-in-the-loop testing, to ensure reliable integration and quality of embedded systems.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, backlog prioritization, and tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment, managing multiple priorities and adjusting to shifting requirements.
