Software Team Lead (Remote)

About this role

The Jotelulu Product team is looking for an experienced Software Team Lead to lead our customer-facing software team, support our growing engineering organization, and help us scale our platform to support millions of users. You will lead a full-stack development team that creates self-service, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions at a cloud provider scale. We are expanding our catalog of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services and need a strong leader to guide the team in achieving these ambitious goals.

This is a fully remote role based in Spain. While we have offices in Madrid (Plaza España) and welcome everyone to join us, our software engineering team is spread across multiple cities, making us a remote-friendly company.

You will

• Lead, mentor, and guide a full-stack development team.
• Design, develop, and maintain our cloud platform software, ensuring high performance and scalability.
• Oversee code reviews, enforce best practices, and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with product managers to align engineering efforts with business goals.
• Solve complex technical challenges and guide the team to deliver innovative solutions.
• Ensure the stability and security of the platform through proactive measures and robust architecture.
• Define technical roadmaps, set team goals, and regularly communicate progress.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.

What We Are Looking For

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience with PHP frameworks (Symfony/Laravel).
• 3+ years of experience in technical leadership or team management.
• Strong experience with relational databases like MySQL, including database design and optimization.
• Expertise in job queues, background PHP processes, and scalable architecture design.
• Proven experience working in an agile environment (using Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, GitLab, etc.).
• Proficiency in both back-end and front-end development, with hands-on experience integrating PHP with client-side frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and live-site operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams, including senior leadership.
• Experience with Ansible and developing Ansible playbooks.
• Deep technical knowledge of both private and public cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP, VMware, etc.).
• Strong understanding of RESTful API development and integration.
• Experience with continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) systems and pipelines.
• A track record of solving challenging problems with creative and scalable solutions.
• Passion for mentoring and developing the skills of team members.
