Job Title: Data Engineering Manager for the Internal Virtual Latinos Team
Pay Rate:
Full-Time Rate: $2,946-$3,208 per month
*The monthly salary range posted is stipulated as an average monthly income. However, all jobs at Virtual Latinos are hourly-based, and payments are calculated on the number of hours a person works daily. We pay our Remote Professionals every 2 weeks through third-party platforms. The hourly rate range of the position is $17-$18.50 per hour, depending on experience. Once a rate has been offered to you, it is non-negotiable.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9-hour shift with a 1-hour lunch break. The entire shift should fall between 7 am – 4 pm PST.

Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced and innovative Data Engineering Manager to lead our data engineering team in building, optimizing, and managing robust data infrastructure and pipelines. The ideal candidate will oversee the design, development, and implementation of scalable data solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the organization’s data-driven goals. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
Job Tasks:
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering professional growth and ensuring high performance.
- Design and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Oversee the integration and optimization of data from multiple sources into unified systems.
- Partner with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless data integration and system compatibility.
- Implement and enforce data quality standards, data validation processes, and governance policies.
- Evaluate and adopt modern data engineering tools and technologies to enhance efficiency.
- Plan, prioritize, and manage data engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery.
Required Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift).
- Experience with data pipeline tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Luigi) and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and data warehouse solutions.
- Understanding of big data tools and frameworks.
- Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and data governance best practices.
Preferred Technical Skills (not required):
- Experience with machine learning workflows and data science platforms.
- Knowledge of data security and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Certifications in data engineering or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics).
Required Soft Skills:
- Effective leadership and mentorship capabilities, guiding team members in technical aspects.
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on delivering efficient solutions.
- Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years in data engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
