Sharpe® is looking to add a Business Development Manager (BDM) to their team to develop new business across the East Coast. This newly create role will be solely focused on new sales and new customer acquisition across heavy engineering. Sharpe® is currently seen as industry leader for manufacturing product used in the Oil, Gas and Resources sectors.

The right BDM will leverage from a broad existing contacts database across a multitude of industry that may include (but not limited to) mining, defence, marine and rail.  The selected BDM will be responsible to champion the diversification of our Brisbane machine shop and respective engineering capability.

Supported by our in-house engineering department, the role also presents an opportunity for product design/ development across all aspects Australian heavy manufacturing market. With the purchase of additional large CNC machining centres including 5-axis milling and robot loading capability; Sharpe® has invested in market leading innovations with lean manufacturing at the core of everything we do. 

The extension of scope we are offering across all industries is in line with strategic planning of the organisation and supported by the operation of a permanent second shift at our Virginia work site.

What we’ll be looking for in you: 

• Work independently (remote working possible on a part-time basis).
• Self-motivated.
• Willingness to travel (sometimes as short notice).
• Similar successful role within heavy machining, ideally 5+ years.
• A past record of success in the region and contacts/ relationships within industry that reflect same.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to tender and commercial management of contracts.
• Trade background and sound understand of CNC lathe operation is preferred. May also suit Engineering (Mechanical) qualified.
• Experience in product design/ development.
