Key Responsibilities
As a Construction Project Manager, you will be entrusted with the comprehensive management of civil underground utility and/or bridge construction projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, directing, and coordinating project activities to achieve defined objectives within established timelines and budgetary limits.
- Monitoring and managing project budgets and schedules, utilizing a proactive 2-3 week look-ahead approach to mitigate potential challenges.
- Crafting and delivering detailed project reports that encompass progress updates, cost forecasts, and performance assessment.
- Developing and implementing project work plans for seamless execution.
- Fostering transparent and collaborative communication with clients, regulatory authorities, and other key stakeholders.
- Maintaining critical project documentation, including pay applications, Requests for Information (RFIs), purchase orders, and change orders.
- Collaborating with the General Superintendent to coordinate resource allocation effectively.
- Representing the company during project meetings and hearings, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements.
- Identifying and addressing project challenges and opportunities to enhance outcomes.
- Supervising the project team to ensure adherence to company standards and quality expectations.
- Reviewing plans and specifications for accuracy and feasibility.
- Mentoring Project Engineers, Office Engineers, and Project Assistants to facilitate their professional development.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and site policies.
- Leveraging knowledge in heavy civil construction, materials, equipment, and risk management.
Required Skills
We seek a candidate with a blend of formal education and relevant project management experience, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong multitasking abilities and experience supervising teams, including Project Engineers and Office Engineers.
- Solid understanding of contract law with skills in negotiating change orders and subcontracts.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex information effectively.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- A solution-oriented mindset, exhibiting urgency and decisiveness in overcoming challenges.
- Proficiency in project management software, including scheduling tools such as ProCore, Primavera, HeavyJob, or Viewpoint, along with MS Word and Excel.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or substantial relevant project management experience.
- Proven ability to handle significant projects or multiple smaller initiatives effectively.
- Experience in supervising construction teams.
