Chief Executive Officer | LG Talent | Australia

*Lead change to facilitate Council’s ongoing sustainability
*Flexible 3–5 year contract
*$235,040 – $270,504 p/a TEC inc MV, Super & Housing

Located within the Murraylands Region, the Southern Mallee District Council is a diverse municipality with vast agricultural, and horticultural enterprises spread across 5,700 km2. A population just under 2100, two main centres of Lameroo and Pinnaroo both offering significant sporting facilities, community infrastructure, childcare centre, hospital with aged care, school, retirement village, and swimming pools topped off with recently rejuvenated town centres.
Lameroo and Pinnaroo are the major Mallee towns representing a key economic zone on the Mallee Highway between Adelaide and Sydney.

Following on from the significant work undertaken by the outgoing CEO focused around sustainability,  a dynamic, courageous and hands on change leader  is now sought who will skilfully work with the Elected Body, staff and the community to help navigate them on a path to ongoing future success.

The CEO is responsible for the effective management and leadership of Council’s six  Key Result Areas, which are to:
• Provide quality advice and build a collaborative and positive relationship with Council
•Ensure effective stakeholder management and communication
•Deliver sound financial and asset management outcomes
• Provide strong and effective leadership and human resource management
• Lead and deliver effective strategic planning and associated objectives
• Oversee operations management and delivery of major projects.

You will be an existing CEO/General Manager/Director with a proven track record of being able to empathetically review an organisation for improvements, carefully challenge the status quo,  and ensure all areas are operating to maximum efficiency.

Pragmatically building capacity and capability across a small workforce covering a wide region, you will be self confident and possess excellent communication skills in all settings.
Additionally, you will  be a strong and visionary leader with outstanding stakeholder and relationship management capability at all levels.

Analytical, data driven and financially astute, Council is open to considering candidates from a range of sectors, however an affinity and/or understanding of how local government operates, and a strong commitment to working within the region for the period of the contract will be essential.

Please apply online via the SEEK advertisement quoting reference SMDC231224 on or before 12 midnight 26 January 2025.

Enquiries are most welcome  by contacting Heather Oliver at LG Talent in confidence on 0404 801 969.
