Job Description:

The Senior Backend Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of microservices in a large-scale, cloud-based environment. Domain-Driven Design (DDD) will be used to determine the bounded contexts for each microservice, ensuring that each component aligns with the relevant business domain. This work will be carried out under the guidance of the DIG EUROSUR Manager and in collaboration with Project Managers, Analysts, Architecture Team Members, Business Capability Sector, and Application Support Teams. Close cooperation with other ICT teams (e.g., Software Development, Network, Service Centre, and Service Management Teams) will also be crucial. The individuals will ensure that sufficient information is provided to the development team. It is assumed that the division of work will need to be coordinated with the Senior Frontend Engineer. The Senior Backend Engineer also ensures effective communication with architects and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Leading the design and implementation of scalable, resilient, and high-performance microservices using Domain Driven Design (DDD), ensuring they meet both business and technical requirements.
• Collaborating closely with architects, business analysts, and both frontend and backend teams to ensure that the architecture and services are consistent and aligned with business goals.
• Designing high-quality, secure APIs (REST/WebSocket-based) to connect services and enable external integrations, ensuring proper API design and documentation.
• Implementing token-based authentication (e.g., JWT, OAuth2) and ensuring compliance with security standards to protect backend services and user data.
• Designing solutions optimized for cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), ensuring cost-effective, scalable, and reliable cloud-based architectures.
• Contributing to the creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation for backend services, APIs, and deployment processes, ensuring that team members and stakeholders have easy access to up-to-date information.
• Analyzing business requirements in close cooperation with architects and business analysts, translating them into effective technical solutions.
• Preparing or supporting the preparation of HLA, HLD and development of LLD Documentation, or equivalent Agile documentation (e.g. user stories) following the Frontex’s templates.

The objectives of the contract are as follows:

1. Designing and implementing solutions based on microservices architecture.

2. Decomposition from Monolith Applications to Micro-Services (Backend)

3. Working with backend and frontend teams to deliver consistent solutions.

4. Optimizing applications for performance and scalability.

5. Creating technical documentation and conducting code reviews.

6. To support architects and developers in business requirement and backend analysis.
