Looking for a seasoned Python Backend Engineer with a strong engineering foundation and proven experience in building large language model (LLM) pipelines, developing AI APIs, and leveraging AWS at scale. Ideal candidates bring a robust technical background, deep Python expertise, and a history of impactful contributions in reputable companies. This role is crafted for professionals who thrive in high-responsibility engineering environments and are ready to drive AI infrastructure at a Principal Backend Engineer level.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee high-performance backend systems on AWS and GCP, ensuring they are robust and responsive.
• Build and optimize serverless architectures for efficient cloud usage.
• Create and maintain RESTful and WebSocket APIs to deliver data for AI-driven applications.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to define, design, and deliver new functionalities.
• Establish scalable, secure, and efficient workflows for AI across company’s products, including workflows for fine-tuning and inferencing generative AI models.
• Engineer custom frameworks for AI agents and multi-agent systems, built from the ground up.
• Manage deployment, testing, and release cycles, overseeing the progression of services from development to UAT and ultimately production.
• Implement security best practices, such as IAM, security groups, and encryption protocols, for all deployments.
• Draft thorough documentation to support clarity and reproducibility.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and implementing large-scale applications and infrastructures.
• Strong proficiency in Python programming.
• Extensive experience with AWS and GCP services, including:
• Compute: EC2, GCE, Lambda, Cloud Functions
• Networking: VPC, Cloud VPN, Transit Gateway, Cloud Interconnect
• Storage: S3, Cloud Storage, EBS, Persistent Disk
• Databases: RDS, Cloud SQL, DynamoDB, Bigtable
• Containers: ECS, GKE, ECR, Container Registry
• Serverless Computing: Lambda, Cloud Functions, API Gateway, Cloud Run
• Monitoring: CloudWatch, Cloud Monitoring, CloudTrail, Cloud Audit Logs
• Proven experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, GKE).
• Hands-on familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CDK, Cloud Deployment Manager).
• Knowledgeable in generative AI, large language models (LLMs), datasets, fine-tuning processes, and AI inference techniques.
• A problem-solving mindset suited to the dynamic, fast-paced environment of a startup.
