Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining our backend infrastructure, with a focus on scalability, performance, and security. This role involves working with AWS services and other modern technologies to deliver efficient and reliable backend solutions. The candidate should possess strong analytical skills and experience in backend development within cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain backend systems and APIs to support platform functionality.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to implement and enhance backend services.
- Ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
- Optimize backend architecture and enhance code quality, focusing on scalability and stability.
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues in a cloud environment, implementing robust solutions for complex problems.
- Use AWS tools and services to design and deploy cloud-native applications.
- Maintain clear and efficient documentation for code and processes.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience writing server-side JavaScript
- Experience investigating and improving JavaScript performance
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- A self-starter capable of operating autonomously when required
- Extensive experience with the AWS platform
- Strong knowledge of Node.js APIs and web services
- You practice strong testing methodologies and iterative development processes
- Excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and empathy
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Node web server frameworks (e.g. Hono/Express), OpenSearch, Postgres
- Experience with data pipelining and stream processing
- Distributed development (e.g. Lambda) architecture experience
- In-depth experience with React + Vitest + Remix
- Some experience with any or all of the following: Auth0, Temporal, GitHub Actions, Pulumi/CDK
