Position Title: Account Director

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Account Director. With our core focus on scaling carbon removal for maximum climate impact, we’re searching for a team player with proven experience in relationship cultivation and business development in the EMEA region. This position will play a crucial role in client engagement and customer service. The successful candidate will be familiar with engineering-oriented problem solving and possess a penchant for climate solutions.

Term: Full-time

Location: Europe (REMOTE)

Reports to: Regional Head, EMEA

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential large scale carbon removal suppliers in EMEA region and convince their management board that they should join Puro.earth ecosystem.
  • Diligently qualify suppliers from inbound submission.
  • Help guide and manage onboarding and verification for new suppliers.
  • Advise and pre-check evidence for verification.
  • Build and nurture your own supplier pipeline to make sure you are representing the most exciting and highest quality CDR suppliers in EMEA.
  • Understand the voluntary and regulatory market trends that are bringing buyers in and out of the carbon removal market.
  • Help identify suppliers that are the best fit for a carbon removal purchase.
  • Represent Puro.earth at events and seminars.
  • Build awareness of durable carbon removal by representing Puro.earth at events and in marketing campaigns.
  • Liaise with relevant trade associations and partners within the carbon removal industry.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • English proficiency.
  • At least 3-5+ years of experience in the carbon markets or similar subject matter expertise.
  • Subject matter experience in ESG, sustainability, sustainable business, environmental studies, responsible sourcing, and/or similar.
  • Proven experience in relationship cultivation, business development/sales or account management within the EMEA region.
  • Strong market research and planning skills in a B2B client engagement, selling, and customer service context.
  • Ability and skills to take ownership of your projects in a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Conversant with quantitative or engineering-oriented problem-solving, with a distinct advantage for having gained such experience in sustainability, carbon removal, and/or project management/finance while working with the energy, agri-food, oil & gas or construction sectors.
  • Firm understanding of the governance of business processes, which confers appreciation of Puro’s role in accrediting projects and the need to collaborate with and utilize independent auditors, iso standards, and other relevant checks and balance for quality control.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong belief in the carbon removal markets.
  • Puro.earth is a global company. While not often, an ability to work across multiple time zones when needed.
  • 25%+ travel depending on location, market, and similar for summits, governing organizations, thought leadership, and more.
  • Proficiency with the following tools (or similar): Office 365 (all); HubSpot (and other CRMs).

Preferred

  • Masters, PhD, or other graduate degrees preferred but not required.
  • Subject matter experience in voluntary and compliance carbon markets.
  • Experience working in a start-up environment.
