AEMO’s role is to design and operate a sustainable energy system that provides safe, reliable and affordable energy today, and to enable the energy transition for the benefit of all Australians. With all Australian governments now committed to a net-zero economy for Australia by 2050, AEMO has a central role in harnessing the power of collaboration to succeed in enabling this national ambition through the decarbonization of the energy sector. Transmission Company Victoria (TCV) is a company created by AEMO Victorian Planning to progress the VNI West transmission project. TCV is currently in the process of applying for a transmission license in Victoria, which is a normal step for providers of electricity transmission infrastructure in the state. TCV works with landholders, Traditional Owners and the community to understand local concerns and ensure that commitments made in the early stages are captured and honored across the life of the project.
About the role
This position requires a strategic approach, to support effective stakeholder communications and help build social license for the project. It requires skilled relationship building with rural communities and an understanding of Project objectives and AEMO’s corporate strategy.
What you will be doing
Guide and execute strategic communications on VNI West.
Collaborating with the project team to ensure excellent outcomes in community engagement, media/social media, key stakeholder engagement and reputation management.
Draft/edit and direct the development of materials including fact sheets, FAQs, website copy, reports, project updates, presentation materials, media releases and social media posts.
Contribute to TCV website content and layout/design.
Contribute to strategic communications plans including key messages and tactics in support of project objectives and for specific issues, events, and milestones.
Contribute to reviews and approvals of materials.
Liaise with media outlets (journalists and editors) on project related queries and develop responses for approval.
Prepare and brief project spokespersons in advance of media engagement.
What you will bring to the role
Education/ Certificates
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Journalism, stakeholder relations and/or communications experience – at least 10 years.
Experience and Knowledge
Strong writing, editing and communications skills, including the ability to write for a range of purposes, channels and audiences.
Demonstrated ability to interpret complex or technical information and communicate it simply.
Well-developed interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with sound professional judgement.
Negotiation and influencing skills.
Experience in the energy industry is highly desirable.
