Ai Engineer Expert Nlp Machine Translation Text To Speech Speech To Text (Remote)

We are seeking a Multilingual NLP Researcher to join our growing team. This role is an exciting opportunity to lead cutting-edge research and development in multilingual Neural Machine Translation (NMT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Speech-to-Text (STT) models, with a special focus on low-resource languages. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in natural language processing (NLP) and be comfortable building, training, and deploying machine learning models for real-world applications.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and optimize models that can handle multiple languages, and contribute to improving language technology for underserved communities.

Role Responsibilities:

• Research and Development: Design and implement multilingual NMT, TTS, and STT models for various languages, focusing on low-resource languages.
• Data Sourcing and Preprocessing: Develop strategies for sourcing and preparing data for low-resource languages, including data augmentation and synthetic data generation techniques.
• Model Training and Optimization: Train and fine-tune state-of-the-art models (e.g., Transformer-based architectures) to achieve high-quality translations and speech recognition.
• Deployment: Implement models in production environments, ensuring they are scalable and efficient for real-time use.
• Evaluation: Design and carry out evaluation frameworks, including BLEU, WER, ROUGE, to measure model performance.
• Collaboration: Work closely with linguistic experts, annotators, and software engineers to integrate models into multilingual platforms.

Job Requirements:

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Machine Learning, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
• Experience with building, training, and deploying Neural Machine Translation (NMT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Speech-to-Text (STT) models.
• Familiarity with low-resource languages and experience in tackling the unique challenges of building language models for these languages.
• Proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and familiarity with pre-trained transformer models
• Strong knowledge of linguistics and language diversity, with an understanding of language families, dialects, and cultural nuances.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms and tools for deployment, such as AWS, Google Cloud, or similar.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
• Passion for advancing language technologies that promote inclusivity and support diverse linguistic communities.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with multilingual datasets like FLORES, and other resources for low-resource language research.
• Experience working with low-resource African languages.
• Knowledge of transfer learning and meta-learning techniques for multilingual NLP tasks.
• Hands-on experience in developing and implementing data augmentation and synthetic data techniques for low-resource language tasks.
