Overview

As we continue to grow and expand our services, we are seeking a dedicated Air Ticket and Ancillary Sales Support person to join our team.

This role is crucial in ensuring our members have a seamless travel experience, from flight bookings to travel insurance and additional services. The ideal candidate will be passionate about travel, detailoriented, and committed to providing exceptional customer service.

Scope of Work

1) Airline Ticket Sales

  • Assist customers in booking flights, including providing information on available airlines, flight schedules, and fares
  • Process ticket reservations and issue electronic and paper tickets using Global Distribution Systems (GDS), specifically Sabre
  • Handle ticket modifications and cancellations, including rebooking flights and calculating refund / change fee amounts
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer inquiries and resolving any issues related to flight reservations
  • Collaborate with our central air booking team to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is provided to customers
  • Stay updated with industry trends and airline policies to provide accurate and timely information to customers
  • Follow standard operating procedures and company policies to ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer satisfaction

2) Travel Insurance Sales

  • Educate members on the importance of travel insurance and its benefits
  • Analyze specific requirements of each traveler and recommend the most suitable insurance plan
  • Explain complex insurance terms and conditions in simple language to ensure members have a clear understanding of their coverage
  • Assist members in comparing multiple insurance options, providing comprehensive information about benefits, limitations, and costs
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in travel insurance, including COVID19 coverage and other emerging trends
  • Guide members through the insurance application process and answer any questions they may have
  • Serve as a point of contact for claims assistance, helping members navigate the claims process when necessary

3) Ancillary Services Booking

  • Book pre and post night hotels for members before and after the main tour program
  • Arrange additional services such as airport transfers, local transportation, or special requests as needed and permitted by the trip
  • Maintain accurate records of all ancillary bookings and communicate details to relevant team members and members
  • Generally assist with customer service answering questions and solving issues related to bookings of our core programs ensuring a seamless experience through their entire booking process

Qualifications

  • TICO Traveller Counsellor license
  • Previous experience in a similar role or in the travel industry is preferred
  • Proficient in using Global Distribution Systems (GDS), particularly Sabre
  • Strong knowledge of airline codes, fares, and flight regulations
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in ticketing and reservation management
  • Familiarity with airline policies and procedures
  • Ability to handle difficult customer situations and provide effective solutions
  • Experience in travel insurance sales or willingness to learn and obtain necessary certifications
  • Knowledge of hotel booking systems and procedures

Work Parameters

  • This is a remote position and the candidate must be able to perform their job duties from a place (home or otherwise) that allows them to focus on the fulfillment of their responsibilities. It is also possible to work part or all of the time at our office in Markham, Ontario
  • This is a full-time role. There are no preset working hours (i.e., not necessarily “9 to 5”), but there is an expectation of producing 40 hours per week of time during reasonable business hours.
  • This role reports to the Sales Team Lead and/or COO. In the initial phase of the role, these 3 will have a weekly meeting to discuss strategy, objectives and action plans
