Android Engineer (Remote)

Android Developer (6-Month Contract): We are looking for an experienced Android Developer to join a dynamic health tech start-up on a 6-month contract. In this role, you will play a key part in building and enhancing our Android application, which empowers users to take control of their health and well-being. Key Responsibilities

Android Development

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications using Kotlin.
• Implement new features and improve existing functionality based on business requirements.
• Ensure the application delivers a seamless and engaging user experience.

Collaboration

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and backend developers, to align on project goals and deliverables.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with QA engineers to ensure robust testing and smooth releases.

Performance Optimization

• Optimize app performance for speed, responsiveness, and scalability.
• Monitor app performance using tools like Android Profiler and identify areas for improvement.
• Debug and resolve technical issues to maintain app stability.

Code Quality

• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality standards across the team.
• Create unit tests and participate in automated testing efforts.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated on the latest Android development trends, tools, and libraries.
• Propose innovative solutions to enhance the app’s functionality and user experience.
• Contribute to improving development processes and workflows within the team.

Required Skills And Qualifications

Technical Expertise

• Strong proficiency in Kotlin with a solid understanding of Android development principles.
• Experience working with Android Jetpack components (e.g., ViewModel, LiveData, Room).
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs for integrating backend services.
• Knowledge of mobile architecture patterns such as MVVM or MVI.
• Experience with third-party libraries like Retrofit, Dagger/Hilt (dependency injection), or Glide.

Health Tech Domain Knowledge (Preferred)

• Understanding of health-related data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA or GDPR) is a plus.
• Experience working on apps that integrate with wearable devices or health monitoring tools is desirable.

Additional Skills

• Proficiency with Git for version control.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Android app deployment.
• Knowledge of Firebase services (e.g., Analytics, Crashlytics) is advantageous.

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within a fast-paced start-up environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of professional experience in Android development.
• Prior experience working in start-ups or health tech companies is highly desirable.
