THE ROLE DEFINED: Reporting to the Director of Application Development, the Application Development Manager will oversee a fast paced and highly dynamic ACES$ Application Development team. We are a mission driven, passionate group of Application and Web Developers who want to build quality products for the populations we serve.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Oversees and manages a staff of Application Developers who are responsible for enhancing and developing new applications, as well as the maintenance and support of the Production Environment. The Production Environment currently consists of two large .NET Web Applications, .NET Web Services, Reporting and Reconciliation services, and SQL / .NET Batch Processes.
  • Manages Application Developers day-to-day work. This includes assignments and developer resource capacity planning to ensure balanced workloads. Work items may consist of Enhancement Requests, Production Defects, Report Requests, or ad-hoc changes to data in the Production environment.
  • Assisting with estimates for effort and duration of projects and individual tasks.
  • Ensures timely completion of tasks assigned.
  • Reviews and approves completed assignments.
  • Conducts Annual Performance Reviews and assists with professional development for a staff of 3 – 6.
  • Provides warranty support for Production Deployments.
  • Interfaces and works in concert with the Development Operations, Business Analytics, and Testing Teams, as well as other Application Development Managers, Application Architect, and the Application Development Director.
  • Helps to author Application Development policy and procedure documents.
  • Performs .NET and SQL code reviews using Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a Software Engineering-related studies is desired, but not required, if balanced with sufficient demonstrated work experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years technical work experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years managing or supervising employees.
  • Experience in managing large projects and project management strategies (Waterfall, Agile) is a plus.
  • Experience using Visual Studio for developer code reviews is a plus.
  • Understanding of Azure DevOps is a plus.
