Reporting to Senior Project Manager

Overview 

Associate Project Manager (APM) is a key role in the Packt Expert Network team, wherein he/she manages his/her own set of products as per the product brief. 

This role is for someone who’s good at project management, can demonstrate excellent skills like communication, problem solving, influence with negotiation, and relationship building. 

Key responsibilities 

• Drive book schedules daily and collaborate with book teams to meet publishing dates 
• Continuously maintain and publish a live project schedule towards publication 
• Work with Authors, Reviewers, and Editors to optimize publication schedules 
• Problem solve, when necessary, to keep authors and book teams on schedule 
• Maintain the integrity of process and good practice at each stage in the publishing project 
• Manage or refer conflicts between deadlines, processes, and quality, where appropriate 
• Relate, build positive rapport, and support Authors to have a positive experience with Packt 
• Relate to and support Technical Reviewers to have a positive experience with Packt 
• Identify and proactively address any publishing problems as early as possible 
• Alert the Project Manager to serious schedule problems 
• Ensure payments to TRs and Authors and third parties are secured 

Competencies 

• Project management: Experience and potential to be adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously. 
• Influence without negotiation: The incumbent should demonstrate ability to influence key stakeholders to deliver in the best interest of the products to be published, and also manage relationship and expectations with authors, technical reviewers, and other stakeholders. 
• Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication with proficiency in English is a key tool for this role. 
• Interpersonal skills: An APM will be required to maintain long standing successful relations with authors and reviewers to develop high quality content. 

Required Skills

Technical/Functional Skills –

• Ability to give feedback for basic anti-patterns 
• Basic Excel skills 

Desirable Skills –

• Prior experience in similar role of a minimum of 3 years 
• A graduate degree in Science or Engineering 

Behavioral Skills –

• Good negotiation skills 
•  Highly organized, with the ability to plan and complete projects as per set timelines 
•  Effective time management skills 
•  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 
•  Multi-tasking 
•  Coordinate and manage several projects for his/her own books 
•  Ability to work in a team 
•  Problem solving and analytical skills

Salary Range – INR 40-55K Gross per month
