Content & Thought Leadership Lead

The way people create and consume content has changed drastically over the past years, with people shifting away from traditional high-production movies and TV shows towards leaner, more creative content by creators. 

This shift is starting to influence B2B marketing too, with companies like Clay and Hockeystack leading the way with new and exciting content formats that rely on originality, creativity, lean-production and increased focus on entertainment as much as thought leadership. 

Bottom line: The landscape of content is constantly changing and we want to be at the forefront of these changes. To ensure that, we are looking for someone to lead and own Content and Thought Leadership at The Growth Syndicate.

Our thoughts on where good B2B content is heading: 

  • Creator-style content is coming to B2B
  • Lean-production video is more important than ever.
  • Thought leadership (i.e. having a clear “perspective”) is key for any brand.
  • Company blogs will slowly die out (if they haven’t already)
  • Gated content will die a slow and painful death. 
  • SEO is constantly uncertain in the face of AI – but it still works (for now).
  • In a world of AI-enabled content, personality is crucial
  • Owned audiences (email, newsletter, substack) will rise due to fickle social algorithms 
  • Founder-brands will become more important than ever
  • Content “monuments” (books, conferences) form the bedrock of big brands
  • Quality content is about being original and creative – standing out. 
  • Podcasts will continue to grow – but only if they stay fresh and original
  • In-person events and communities will thrive and grow
  • High-quality, original webinars will continue to perform strongly
  • Long-form, super in-depth content will make a comeback
  • B2B content will require thought leadership AND entertainment.

This role is for you if…

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in a B2B marketing role
  • You are passionate about creating great b2b content in different formats
  • You’re excited about the challenge of helping us redefine B2B content
  • You’ve had experience building a personal brand (for yourself or others, e.g. founders)
  • You think about content as being more than just writing
  • You can lead content initiatives but also aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and execute
  • You follow other creators and stay up to date on new trends and ideas
  • You are creative but also have a commercial and analytical mindset
  • You want to work with an awesome team of top marketing and growth experts

This role is not for you if…

  • You prefer to stay in your comfort zone
  • You’re stuck in the old content marketing ways
  • You don’t experiment with different content formats
  • You don’t want to work on your personal brand
  • You only want to write

What you’ll be doing

  • Immersing yourself in the world of B2B content and continuously finding new inspiration
  • Constantly engaging with top B2B content creators to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Owning the creation and execution of The Growth Syndicate’s content and thought leadership strategy. 
  • Leading key content initiatives, including our podcast, book, webinars and LinkedIn thought leadership.
  • Always thinking about how we can leverage great content to drive growth.
  • Helping our clients develop and operationalize their own content strategies
  • Leading client-facing content and thought leadership workshops.
  • Contributing to content-related topics in our courses, workshops, community and events. 
  • You’re the expert….you tell us what we need to be doing!
