The team has recently raised £10M in Series-A funding, setting the stage for rapid growth and expansion. With a team of 25, including a close-knit engineering group of six, we are seeking a Backend Engineer to help build scalable and efficient systems that enable our clients to create measurable impact.
Role Summary: As a Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in developing the core infrastructure of our platform. You’ll work alongside other engineers, data scientists, and product managers to create high-quality, reliable, and maintainable software solutions. This role is ideal for someone with 1-4 years of backend development experience, particularly in Python, who is passionate about impactful technology and enjoys solving complex problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications and APIs primarily using Python.
- Collaborate closely with the team to architect scalable backend services that meet the needs of our growing user base.
- Ensure code quality through testing, peer code reviews, and documentation.
- Work closely with data engineers and data scientists to integrate and process complex datasets efficiently.
- Monitor and improve system performance, focusing on scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the product team to shape new features and optimize existing functionalities.
Requirements:
- Experience: 1-4 years of experience in backend development with a strong focus on Python.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, with experience in designing RESTful APIs and working with frameworks like Django or Flask.
- Database Knowledge: Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and familiarity with database optimization and data modeling.
- Cloud & DevOps: Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and basic experience with containerization tools (e.g., Docker) is a plus.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills, with a focus on writing efficient and scalable code.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a small, collaborative team.
- Remote Work: Comfortable working remotely within the UK and able to make occasional trips to our office.
