Back End Engineer (Remote)

Contract length: 10-12 months (W2/EOR) – opportunity to extend

Interview process: 2-3 interview rounds (including technical and/or assessment)

This role is open to candidates based in the US, Canada, South/Central America and Europe.

Candidates must be able to overlap at least 4 hours with Pacific Time (PST) until 1 pm PST.

The Notifications team at Reddit helps us achieve our mission of bringing community and belonging to everyone in the world by delivering users engaging content at the right time. We deliver hundreds and millions of push notifications and emails to Reddit users every day.

As a backend engineer, you’ll design, build and scale products within our notifications system, with a focus on the platform level infrastructure work. We work collaboratively as a team with product managers, data science and other engineering teams.

• At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a BE engineer
• Must have:

• Experience with golang or python
• Knowledge of basic datastore technologies (cassandra, Redis, postgres)
• Familiarity with SQL
• Familiarity with unit testing and other automated testing
• Has operational experience supporting live ops for websites
• Excellent spoken and written English communication skills

• some knowledge of GraphQL, airflow
• Familiarity with queueing technology (Kafka, SQS or equivalent)
