Backend Engineer (Remote)

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Backend Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining backend services, focusing on Azure cloud solutions, including Azure Functions and ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory. Strong experience with Python and NodeJS is essential, as you’ll work to optimize existing systems and ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability of backend processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Azure Functions, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
• Implement and manage ETL pipelines with Azure Data Factory for data transformation, integration, and movement across various platforms.
• Collaborate with data engineers, front-end developers, and other team members to define, design, and deliver scalable data solutions.
• Optimize and maintain APIs and backend services, ensuring high performance and low latency.
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues; optimize performance as part of continuous integration and deployment workflows.
• Automate workflows and data pipelines to streamline processes and enhance data handling efficiencies.
• Document code, processes, and system designs to ensure clear and maintainable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• Proficiency in Azure Functions and Azure Data Factory for ETL and data processing.
• Strong expertise in Python and NodeJS for backend development.
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices and version control using Git.
• Familiarity with database management and integration across SQL and NoSQL systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward troubleshooting and debugging.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with additional Azure services such as Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and Azure Storage.
• Knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Experience with API development and microservices architecture.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
