The year 1954 marked a significant milestone in thermal insulation history. Armstrong’s R&D Project Number 54013, developed by three innovators, evolved into ArmaFlex, the world’s first flexible, closed-cell elastomeric foam for equipment insulation. This product revolutionized the insulation industry. Today, 70 years later, ArmaFlex continues to be a pillar of Armacell’s success.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for increasing Armacell’s market share and maximizing revenue growth in designated Industrial segments. These areas may include, but not limited to, industrial HVAC equipment, commercial & consumer appliances (white goods) and electronic applications. The individual should have a technical acumen, a track record of building & maintaining strong relationships, the ability to influence decision makers resulting in material specification approvals and exceptional leadership qualities while proactively driving & managing new business activities. The position will be remote based.

Position is remote based, with the ideal candidate residing amongst the Southeast or eastern Midwest.

Job Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a business strategy plan to grow the assigned market.
  • Market Research: Conduct market analysis to identify trends, competitive positions and potential growth areas.
  • Prospecting: Identify new business opportunities, generate leads and contact potential partners by cold calling and/or networking at trade shows and industry conferences.
  • Voice of Market: Collect input from the market to establish business & product portfolio strategy, direction and development to support sustainable growth.
  • Building Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships at all levels of the value chain and stakeholders.
  • Demand Generation: Create interest for Armacell solutions at the OEM level and become the liaison with Material Engineers, Product Development Engineers, Material Specifiers and Innovation Managers to introduce, promote, specify and drive new development activities.
  • Global Participation: Present key project opportunities with proposed Armacell solutions to the global CF team members from other regions including Europe, Asia Pacific and South America.
  • Sales Support: Assist sales team with training and market expertise to support direct customer growth.

Job Qualifications And Requirements

  • Technical degree or BS/BA in relevant field, engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in a Technical, Market Segment, Business Development or other customer-facing roles.
  • Prior experience with industrial equipment with preferred knowledge in acoustical applications.
  • Capacity to influence others’ behavior through persuasive presentations, effective OEM/Tier 1 relationship development, facilitation, training and development.
  • Effective prioritization and time management with a demonstrated sense of urgency.
  • Results-oriented leader and highly motivated team player with a strong passion to win.
  • Expected domestic travel to be between 30-40%.
  • Can work independently and multi-task in faced paced environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Salesforce.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Armacell in the US

The expected compensation range for this role is $120,000.00 -$140,000.00.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience, and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
