We are seeking an ambitious and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, maintaining relationships of existing customers, building strategic partnerships, and driving sales to accelerate our company’s growth. Your knowledge of the steel industry, particularly in plasma cutting and processing, will be critical to your success in expanding our market reach and positioning us as a leader in the field.

Key Responsibilities of this role:

  • Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities within the steel processing, manufacturing, mining, and construction markets.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, understanding their specific needs and offering tailored solutions to enhance client satisfaction.
  • Develop partnerships and alliances with key players in the industry, including manufacturers, suppliers, and end-users, to expand the company’s market presence.
  • Develop and execute effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and business growth goals.
  • Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities within the steel processing sector.
  • Collaborate closely with our internal sales teams, including production, engineering, and marketing, to ensure client requirements are met efficiently and on time.
  • Lead initiatives to evaluate, enhance, and streamline current business processes, ensuring optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify areas for automation, define clear workflows, and implement solutions that support business growth and operational excellence.
  • Oversee the development and continuous improvement of the CRM system to support data-driven decision-making, customer relationship management, and sales tracking.
  • Develop strategies to maximise CRM utilisation, including regular data audits, reporting enhancements, and integrations with other business systems to improve user experience and data accuracy.

About you:

  • Minimum of 3 years in business development, sales, or account management within the steel industry, preferably in steel plasma cutting, processing, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of steel processing plasma cutting/fabrication, and related technologies.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets, with strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Proficient in market analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning.
