Job description / Role

Role Purpose

The role mainly involves designing, delivering, and supporting data-related solutions, which include end-to-end business intelligence solutions, among others. This role will help utilize the data generated by different business processes to unlock valuable business insights and simplify accessibility for business stakeholders to assist them in decision-making and performance optimization activities.

The role requires a deep understanding of all aspects of Vodafone Business Technology Solutions delivery methodology and frameworks, from product design to presales activities, then post-sales and delivery activities, until the project is handed over to transition and operations.

Key Accountabilities and Decision Ownership

Design and deliver agile end-to-end BI solutions, activities could include:
• Requirement gathering and analysis.
• Backlog management, priorities negotiations, and sprint planning.
• Solution design and deliverables scope and estimation.
• Data extraction, cleansing, and transformation.
• Data modeling.
• Data visualization.
• Testing and validation.
• User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions.
• Technical writing and documentation.

Support and maintain delivered solutions, activities include:
• Automate repeatable admin activities.
• Maintain and monitor data refresh schedules.
• Handle support tickets and bug fixes.
• Apply lessons learned to continuously tweak and optimize BI solution delivery processes and solution maintenance activities.
• Ability to share best practices and code standards with the team.
• Participate in the problem identification/error resolution process, including tracking, repairing, and reporting defects.
• Create and maintain technical design documentation to support development.
• Contribute to test automation activities.
• Ensure that development follows security-related recommendations and is safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.
• Drive code reviews with other developers.

Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Experience

• 10 years of experience in business and data insights.
• End-to-end BI solution development experience using interactive BI and MS Power Platform tools like Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
• Experience in designing and delivering enterprise BI solutions on an enterprise data platform (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, SAP, Teradata, Hadoop, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• BI experience in multiple business domains (e.g., project management, financial, HR).
• Experience in ETL implementation, extracting data from a variety of sources (e.g., flat files, relational databases, NoSQL databases, Big Data platforms).
• Experience applying dimensional modeling concepts to develop data marts and data warehouses.
• Experience and competency in at least some of the following languages or their equivalents: Python (Pandas), SQL, DAX, M Language.
• Experience building interactive data models using analytical engines like SSAS or modern BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, and Qlik.
• Ability to utilize source control tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git).
• Experience leading a team of developers to deliver an end-to-end BI solution.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English and local language as necessary.
• Basic knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts.
• Good communication skills, with proven ability to work cross-functionally to translate business issues into potential analytics solutions (listening, questioning, challenging, etc.).
• Analytical thinker, familiar with complex technologies and programming languages.
• Remain up-to-date in terms of current (and future) technological trends.
• Experience working on projects that span multi-disciplinary areas of differing size and complexity to meet business expectations and deliver results.
• Confident and able to liaise and influence at all levels within Vodafone and/or relevant customer organizations.

Must-Have Technical/Professional Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role or a related role.
• Certifications in any of the following are a plus:
• Statistics.
• Project management and agile methodology.
• Data management.
• BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).
• Business intelligence (data modeling, warehousing, ETL/ELT).
• Data science.
• Regression and prediction analysis certificate.
• Hands-on experience in different ETL tools.
• Hands-on experience in different visualization/analytical tools (Splunk is a plus).
• Understands data governance and how it works in relation to other organizational governance structures.
• Telecom experience is a plus.
• Experience managing projects for customer operations business using lean, six sigma, agile, and PMP methodology.
• Ability to work independently and establish priorities.
• Strong ability to raise and/or resolve issues.
