The Business Intelligence Developer provides data driven solutions to customer and end user needs in clinical trials. Uses their expertise in data visualization and analytics to develop dynamic online reports for outcomes data captured in clinical trials. The scope of work covers projects in setup and maintenance. Ensures deliver of robust, high-quality data visualization and reporting solutions.

Additionally, the BI Developer is accountable for project deliverables in line with quality targets and SLAs while adhering to best practices, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), the company’s processes, and global industry regulations. The ideal candidate possesses mid-level product knowledge and mid-level knowledge of user applications.

Roles and Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities – Function:

Reporting Development / Study Configuration

• Identify customer and end user needs for data visualization and reporting and create solutions in collaboration with the customer and the delivery team.
• Design and create dynamic online reports using SQL and Qlik Sense (BI reporting tool) for a broad range of clinical research projects.
• Support Global Technical Delivery in meeting business objectives outlined in Goals and Objectives.
• Works with the Solution team to understand the business requirements for assigned tasks and participate in client/design/review meetings as needed.
• Supports all phases of verification/testing by efficiently diagnosing and resolving defects.
• Collaborates with the Delivery Manager/Lead to keep the project on time.
• Coordinates with the other Reporting Engineers to understand design patterns, standards, customizations, and resource capacity planning.
• Understands and follows all coding standards.
• Creates robust, well-documented code.
• Completes unit testing, creates documentation, and executes peer reviews as required.
• Adheres to source control, versioning best practices, and operational process requirements when executing study configuration tasks.
• Regularly communicate status updates of assigned tasks to internal and external stakeholders.
• Requests requirements and design clarifications when necessary, recommending improvements and design solutions for functional needs.
• Willingly and openly adopts and supports iterative process improvements.

Quality System Responsibilities

• Performs all work following documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Working Instructions, Adheres to Good Clinical Practices (GCP), 21 CFR Part 11, and other regulatory requirements as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, business, or computer science, or equivalent years of experience.
• 2 – 3 years of experience professionally working with data, getting insights through data analysis, understanding charting focusing on data visualization and reporting.
• Detailed knowledge of software development process and practices.
• Strong proficiency in tools such as QlikSense, Power BI, Tableau.
• Strong proficiency in SQL (Oracle preferred).
• Ability to work understand customer problems and proposed solutions, experience in collaborating with customers and/or end users.
• Strong problem-solving skills and good decision making to escalate when necessary.
• Experience driving interactions with clients gathering requirements to propose and create data visualization solutions.
• Ability to provide concise and accurate feedback to the client and the teams about progress and outcomes.
• Ability to work in a team environment providing backup support to team members and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with co-workers within and across functional areas.
• Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to comprehend business requirements and recommend clarifications and improvements to ensure quality.
• Experience, capability, and willingness to share knowledge openly with others, including lessons learned.
• Experience estimating project time needed for quoting development and support tasks.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.

Desirable:

• Agile Scrum methodologies.
• Atlassian Suite tools, such as Bit Bucket/Confluence/JIRA/X-ray/Jira Service Manager.
• Proficiency in XML.
• Python or related scripting language experience.
• Familiarity with GCP and 21 CFR Part 11.
• Familiarity with defect tracking software.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Leading software design and development efforts on assigned projects.
• Experience estimating project time needed for quoting development and support tasks.
