    About the role:

    A large local council is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Business Intelligence Developer / Tech Lead to lead their augmented BI and technical development team. This role is critical in supporting the organization’s strategic decisions by designing, developing, and maintaining Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database technology, data analysis, and BI toolsets, capable of leading the project technically and ensuring that all BI solutions are robust, compliant, and align with business goals.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage City Assets augmented technical and BI development team in the creation and implementation of BI software and systems, including integration with databases and data warehouses.
    • Design, develop, and manage BI reports and solutions, ensuring they are scalable and meet organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
    • Proactively engage relevant stakeholders in the development of fit for purpose dashboards.
    • Enhance business performance through enterprise data solutions by designing and implementing ETL processes, data models, and BI reports.
    • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all BI initiatives.
    • Lead and facilitate regular project meeting/s with Vendor partners.
    • Lead Vendor BI developers and technical team to drive on-time delivery of outcomes and outputs for BCC
    • Ensure that the Vendor is professionally managed within defined success parameters.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and developments in BI technologies and practices and incorporate this knowledge into internal projects.
    • Manage the lifecycle of BI projects from conceptualization to deployment and maintenance.
    • Lead the troubleshooting and performance tuning of BI tools and systems.
    • Develop and maintain documentation for all BI processes and systems.
    • Identify and prioritize areas of risk within the project.
    • Develop (for approval) and implement measures to manage such risks.
    • Report regularly to the City Assets, Head of Change and Enablement and other relevant managers and stakeholders.
    • This position is required to make informed decisions regarding analytics, reporting and processes that will support behavioral transformation to achieve BCC project objectives.

    Experience required:

    • 10+ years of experience in a BI development role, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
    • Strong expertise in BI development tools, data warehousing solutions, and ETL processes.
    • Proficient in SQL and familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R.
    • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Proven ability to manage and complete projects to deliver results within time and budget constraints.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
    • Class C drivers licence.
    • Demonstrated experience in business analysis including:
    • Data collection and complex data analysis
    • Benchmarking
    • Requirements gathering and evaluation
    • Workflow and business process design.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to make recommendations based on analysis of business requirements and needs.
    • Extensive hands-on experience and technical understanding of platforms and solutions (connected units, web and mobile platforms).
    • Experience in integration of back-end systems and external services (cloud).

    Desirable experience

    • Project management experience, particularly Agile methodologies.
    • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
    • Knowledge of advanced analytics and data science methodologies.
    • Certification in Business Intelligence or Data Management.
