About the team | Ko te rōpū nei

Residential and commercial construction projects are critical for the regeneration of economic and social life within the city. The Case Manager Service works across the Council and with a range of external project stakeholders to assist in navigating the Council processes for approvals, licenses and consents for these projects.


About the role | Ko te mahi nei

Your role is key to forming and maintaining productive relationships with the Christchurch development community, where their interests are understood and their contribution to our city is valued. Equally important are relationships with internal staff as you’ll work to provide support that contributes to efficiency and ensures that the Council’s regulatory objectives are achieved.

As a Case Manager your role is to identify what needs to be done, activate Council resources to get it done, identify obstacles and clear these. All of this must be done while also ensuring the most important regulatory objectives are achieved – safety of development projects, safety of the public and equitable treatment of stakeholders. You’ll be responsible for managing a portfolio of work that includes large scale projects of high importance to the city and working with the Christchurch development community.


About you | Ko Koe Tēnei

Your relationship management and influencing skills are of critical importance to the role and you will have a demonstrated ability to manage your day-to-day work. As you’ll be expected to manage challenging approval scenarios, your problem-solving skills, understanding of construction and development processes and where to find the right information will be critical to success. You will also have:

  • A formal qualification related to building and development or at least five years’ experience in building and/or development projects managing multiple stakeholders in a large organisation.
  • Working experience and knowledge of the range of approvals required for commercial and residential projects is important for this role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, in a business environment

Hours of work – 37.5 – 40 hours per week

Position – Permanent full time
Location – This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices – 53 Hereford Street
SalaryThe salary band for this position goes from $101,882 – $113,202 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
