Job Overview

We are in search of a highly skilled Certified Medical Coder (CPC or CCS) to be an integral part of our remote team. In this pivotal role, you will undertake the critical task of reviewing and analyzing surgical and hospital outpatient coding, alongside patient medical records, ensuring the highest level of coding accuracy. You will play a key role in maintaining records that adhere to both medical and legal standards while facilitating billing functions to ensure timely and efficient collection of medical payments. This position promises a dynamic and collaborative work environment that values precision and a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct meticulous analysis of coding services, procedures, diagnoses, and treatments.
  • Identify and address any billing issues arising from coding discrepancies.
  • Code and bill accurately for vascular scans.
  • Assign ICD-10 DX and CPT codes for outpatient surgical suite procedures.
  • Assign ICD-10 DX and CPT codes for hospital consultations and surgical procedures.
  • Review operative notes to guarantee precise coding for post-surgical consultations and charges.
  • Undertake additional administrative tasks as required to support team objectives.

Required Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Certified Medical Coder, ideally in a hospital or a high-volume medical office.
  • Demonstrated expertise in surgical and hospital outpatient coding.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring thorough and accurate work.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an accredited medical coding program through AHIMA or AAPC is preferred.
  • Current and active CPC or CCS certification.
  • A solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
