Cg Layout And Animation Ta (Remote)

Flying Bark Productions is working on exciting projects such as the recently announced Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix’s Stranger Things animated series, Marvel Studios’ What If…?, Disney Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, as well as our production Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan. 

The CG Layout and Animation TA is primarily responsible for technically checking turnover assets from the layout department into the pipeline and through to character layout and proper build in Harmony. They may be required to support CG assets with the creation and maintenance of high-quality and lower res proxy models, BG projection tasks and also CG animation and rigging tasks as required. They may also be involved in troubleshooting, assembly and layout tasks as well as look development, workflow development. Scripting needs may be required, under the guidance and direction of the technical and creative supervising crew.

About the role:

• Technically check and ingest client turnover assets into Shotgrid
• Assist with layout assembly as required
• Assist with BG layout projections tasks
• Assist with assets and/or layout by  producing proxy and/or high resolution models
• Facilitate a smooth hand off between the layout and 2D animation departments
• Exporting 3D files from Maya to Harmony
• Updating BG Layout to BG Paint layers in Maya and rendering
• Exporting 3D Rigs from Harmony back to Maya
• Output files from Harmony back into Lighting and/or Comp as required
• Assist with layout workflow development and MEL scripting for layout tools for the film
• Take direction from the Project’s creative leadership, including Director, CG Supervisor and Layout Supervisor
• Documenting the workflow for future productions

About you:

• Strong professional experience and use of Maya in a production-based environment;
• Solid knowledge of camera workflows in Maya

• Good MEL scripting ability
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Ability to flag issues that may impact on the successful delivery of assets within the Production schedule.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
