GSE Solutions leverages five decades of proven industry experience and is searching for an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer.

GSE Design & Analysis specializes in providing consulting engineering services to the nuclear utility industry and operating facilities, including studies, calculations, analysis, drawing revisions, etc.

Pay Range- $110,000 to $150,000 annually, DOE.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, conceptualize and create designs for new products.
  • Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work, both manually and using computer software.
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors.
  • Document project development and design process in detail.
  • Visits clients to develop relationships, support project meetings, and develop new business opportunities. (In person and through video conferencing)
  • Supports Project Manager/Controls in preparing scopes of work, budgets, and proposal schedules.
  • Mentors less experienced engineers and consultants.
  • Support other disciplines and responsible engineers in support of assigned duties.

  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft 365.
  • Must be capable of obtaining unescorted access at nuclear plants and other facilities requiring background authorization.

Education & Experience

  • BS Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5-10 years of experience in design engineering for a firm doing similar work as D&A supporting nuclear and industrial projects.
  • Professional Engineers (PE) License preferred but not required, but must be willing to work towards PE License.

Physical Demands

  • Occasional travel to industrial locations for walk-downs or design implementation support (PPE required, such as hard hats, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection).
  • Some travel may involve working in a hot environments (e.g., outside, turbine building, etc.)
  • Occasional travel to in a radiologically controlled area.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions

  • General office environment (remote work).
  • Working environment is generally favorable.
  • Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
  • Ability to occasionally perform walk-downs at client locations (industrial, power plant, etc.).
  • Ability to travel (estimated 10-15%).
