The Hydrogen Council, the global CEO-led initiative comprising the world’s leading businesses and investors in hydrogen, is recruiting for a highly motivated Communications Officer to contribute to its mission.
As Communications Officer, you will work closely with the Communications Manager of the Hydrogen Council as well as support the organisation’s global team based out of Canada, UK, Belgium and Germany.
Key responsibilities
- Support Hydrogen Council communications efforts, especially its digital components such as social media, website, newsletters and webinars
- Assist in creation and dissemination of content for external and internal communication (press releases, content hub, members-only announcements, etc.)
- Monitor media and social media impact to provide data-based, actionable performance recommendations
- Manage communications tools, including internal and external contact lists
- Support Hydrogen Council’s Communications Committee program and help organise its regular meetings
- Support Hydrogen Council’s external event participation and speaking program
- Collaborate on communications-related activities with Hydrogen Council’s Research, Advocacy, Marketplace, Operations and Events work streams

Qualifications and skills
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience in similar roles
- Education: Master’s degree in communications or a related field
- Languages: Native-equivalent or full professional proficiency in English. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
- Technical proficiency: Excellent knowledge of social media platforms and their specificities. Knowledge of SEO/SEA and Google Analytics 4 is a plus. Knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign is a plus.
- Issue knowledge: Familiarity with energy transition topics. Existing knowledge of hydrogen issues and experience in hydrogen-related communications is a plus.
- Team player: Collaborative, adaptable, and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and members to achieve shared objectives.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail: Comfortable developing and managing processes and databases, ensuring high levels of accuracy and efficiency.
- Professional conduct: Diplomacy, discretion, tact and ability to represent the Council and its leadership towards members as well as external stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multicultural, and hybrid work environment. Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively across different time zones and adapt to varying work requirements.
- Service mindset: Strong fit for a membership-based organization with a demonstrated ability to thrive in an member-driven trade group environment.
- Flexibility: Given the Council’s global nature with member companies across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, reasonable flexibility is required for accommodating meeting times and fostering collaborative relationships.
- Travel: Willingness to travel occasionally, depending on the candidate’s location.
Other information
- Contract type: full-time employee
- Expected start date: as soon as available. Please indicate potential earliest start date and notice length (if applicable).
- Remuneration: competitive, based on experience
- Location: hybrid position, with a preference for candidates in or close to Central European (CET) time zone and with the ability to travel to Brussels and work with the Hydrogen Council team in person on agreed occasions.
