Job Summary

Edcetera is seeking an experienced and proactive Compliance Manager to join our dynamic team. This role will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the company’s adherence to legal and regulatory requirements of our educational programs, provide guidance on our business contracts and obligations, and support the implementation and monitoring of compliance programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal processes, risk management, and regulatory frameworks, coupled with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Compliance:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Advise senior management on legal risks and compliance requirements related to business operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks, including Post Secondary Education Boards, State Regulatory Boards, and National Regulatory Boards.
  • Review and interpret legal documents, contracts, and agreements to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Coach, train, and oversee team work and leverage influence to ensure company departments are adherent to compliance guidelines.

Risk Management:

  • Conduct periodic risk assessments to identify potential legal and compliance issues within business operations.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
  • Assist in managing external legal and regulatory audits and inspections.

Training and Awareness:

  • Assist with developing training programs for employees to raise awareness of legal and compliance issues, company policies, and ethical standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on compliance-related questions and legal issues.

Regulatory Affairs:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and other agencies.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and developments affecting the company’s business, ensuring timely updates and adjustments to educational programs, policies and procedures.

Contract Management:

  • Oversee the review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts and agreements with external parties.
  • Ensure that contracts are legally sound and comply with internal policies and regulations.

Dispute Resolution and Legal Support:

  • Manage any legal disputes or potential litigation, working closely with external legal counsel as needed.
  • Provide legal support to business units on day-to-day legal issues and transactions.

Compliance Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, legal inquiries, and audits.
  • Prepare and submit reports to senior management and regulatory bodies, as required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in legal and compliance roles, preferably in Higher Education or other regulated education field.
  • Leadership or People Management experience.
  • Strong experience with risk management, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal principles, corporate governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • A talent, resilience, and resourcefulness to quickly resolve friction points with internal and external stakeholders
  • Attention to detail in order to synthesize potential needs in order to offer viable solutions
  • Proven track record of collaboration with cross-functional departments
  • Thrives in a dynamic environment, deals with ambiguity, problem-solves and creates clarity

Compensation

  • Salary starts at $90,000, commensurate with experience
