As the Corporate Business Development Manager (CBDM), you will play a crucial role in expanding our portfolio of innovative products on a global scale. You’ll be responsible for driving growth in our non-legacy offerings, such as InnovationQ Plus and eLearning, by reaching out to both existing customers and new prospects.
In collaboration with our Account Executives and National Account Managers, you will identify cross-sell opportunities and serve as a subject matter expert for global initiatives. This position requires generating between $350,000 and $700,000 in new business annually for non-legacy products. You will report directly to the Director of Sales and Business Development and work with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Expansion: Collaborate with assigned accounts to identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities. Build relationships with new contacts at existing accounts for non-legacy products.
New Business Prospecting: Actively pursue new business by expanding the reach of our non-legacy products through a targeted list of prospects, leads generated by our lead generation programs, or your own efforts.
Strategic Collaboration: Work with the Sales Director to develop sales and marketing strategies that address the needs and pain points of existing and potential customers. Regularly update contacts and account information in our CRM system (Salesforce.com).
Customer Engagement: Coordinate with the Client Services Management (CSM) team to ensure smooth onboarding and training for new customers. Monitor customer usage and proactively address any low usage accounts with the relevant teams.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized firms, and small organizations. Engage with engineering and R&D management to elevate awareness of our products and understand their unique challenges.
Training and Support: Provide training for clients and prospects on product usage. Collaborate with Client Services Managers and partners to meet the training needs of both renewal and new accounts.
Travel Requirements: Expect to travel approximately 50% of the time for customer visits, industry events, and client onboarding or training. This may include frequent overnight trips and some international travel.
Customer Service: Address customer service inquiries directly and escalate complex issues to the appropriate department in a timely manner, ensuring ongoing resolution support.
Credit and Collections: Assist the credit and collections team as needed to collect overdue balances. Maintain accurate customer files and document all sales activities in our CRM.
Marketing Collaboration: Identify and develop new product and service opportunities in conjunction with the product marketing and management teams. Test potential offerings and provide feedback to help shape our marketing campaigns.
Continuous Learning: Stay informed about product enhancements and competitive landscape to effectively convey our unique value proposition during sales presentations.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; a degree in Business or Engineering is preferred.
Experience: 4-7 years of business experience, with direct sales experience in selling high-ticket items to Engineering, IT, Intellectual Property, or R&D groups. Experience managing accounts and negotiating complex contracts is essential.

Technologically savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and CRM software.
Strong presentation skills, capable of engaging audiences of up to 100 people, both in-person and via web.
Exceptional written communication abilities to prepare reports, sales quotations, and proposals effectively.
