The Credit Underwriter’s objective is to provide accurate assessment of risk throughout the entire RoadFlex’s pipeline from initial customer intake. This individual plays a critical role in RoadFlex’s process, ensuring RoadFlex’s accounts are healthy, fair, and competitively optimized.  In this role, you’ll develop a strong foundation for RoadFlex’s credit operations, which lays the groundwork for opportunities in risk strategy and underwriting. 

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze customer applications for risk and credit decisions.
• You will be part of our manual underwriting process team and help us optimize the criteria for approvals
• Use model outputs and tools built in-house by our Risk Technology teams, and validate results with personal expertise to help make key credit decisions for customer accounts.
• Develop expertise on credit management.
• You will engage cross-functionally (accounts, engineering, etc.) to ensure we are managing accounts fairly, accurately, and competitively.
• You will participate in special projects focused on our risk operations, such as collaborating with our data science and engineering teams to improve our models and tools. 
• You will also lead operations and process improvement projects across credit operations, risk and credit monitoring

• 1 – 7 in risk management, risk operations, and/or fraud
• Experience scaling a risk function or team at a high-growth fintech start-up, including hiring and managing a team of risk managers and analysts
• Experience with small business credit, KYB requirements, business payments, and/or card products

Nice to haves

• Proficiency in data analysis (SQL, Python, or R).You have a “get things done” mentality; you can dissect complex problems, identify solutions, and drive these solutions to completion with a high degree of autonomy
• Experience in a high-growth startup in the payments industry
• A technical background in software engineering

This is a full time remote position.
