Job Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Critical Power Field Project Manager to lead the execution of our projects from inception to completion. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary liaison for our clients, ensuring a smooth progression from the quotation phase to final commissioning and acceptance. Your technical acumen and leadership will be instrumental in coordinating our sales and service teams to achieve outstanding project outcomes. You will report directly to the Regional Service Manager and may supervise a team of 2-6 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules that are clear and regularly updated.
  • Collaborate with fellow project managers and application engineers to clearly define project scope and constraints.
  • Manage the flow of communication and documentation between clients and our organization.
  • Participate in pre-bid and bid-opening meetings as necessary.
  • Conduct site visits for sales quoting and pre/post-job qualifications.
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, and bid documents, issuing change orders as required.
  • Provide expertise in contingency planning and project management.
  • Support the customer service team during order setup, material procurement, invoicing, and project closure.
  • Prepare and oversee the project safety plan in accordance with company, client, and regulatory standards.
  • Create, prioritize, and maintain a list of project action items.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of as-built documentation and punch lists.
  • Monitor, report, and control project costs to align with estimated margins.
  • Manage gross profit and key performance metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Report, forecast, and present project financial activities to management.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to optimize material and service margins.
  • Provide market insights to the management team to sustain our industry leadership.
  • Manage business expenses in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Work alongside sales team members for joint sales calls and coaching opportunities.
  • Remain informed about industry advancements and collaborate with OEMs and vendors on new technologies.
  • Be available to work evenings or weekends as required by customer needs.
  • Oversee on-site installation and project activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills

  • Proven project management capabilities in power and mechanical applications.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management software (Procore preferred).
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Understanding of key industry standards (IEEE, NERC/FERC, NESC, NEC, ANSI, NETA).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management from an accredited institution, or a high school diploma with a minimum of 10 years of relevant field service, project management, and/or proposal generation experience in critical power distribution systems.
  • At least 5 years of project management experience in electrical industry applications; PMP certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated financial success in project management roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical industry application engineering principles.
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain workplace relationships focused on client satisfaction.
  • Willingness to travel extensively as required by the role.
