The Role
We’re building a Data & Analytics team and looking for an experienced data engineer to join our 100% remote work environment. This is a great opportunity if you have a background in Microsoft data platforms and tools to architect and build an entirely new analytics platform. You’ll be one of the first people on the team and be an owner of your platform and tools. This is all new; we don’t have any legacy reporting and data platforms to hold us back.
You’ll work directly with application owners and business users to determine solutions and then design and develop the appropriate architecture, pipelines, and data warehousing to support our growing business. We’re interested in ingesting and integrating data from sources as varied as CRM, applicant tracking and financial systems, and other cloud-based tools. We’ll also be evaluating and integrating tools to support AI through Microsoft Copilot.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, especially business users, to gather requirements and translate them into Azure-based technical solutions.
- Architect and develop appropriate solutions using data lakes, pipelines, and data warehousing patterns based in Microsoft solutions (Synapse, Fabric, SQL, Power BI, Azure Data Lake, etc.)
- Work with our in-house reporting team to determine appropriate visualization and reporting tooling, utilizing Power BI among other tools.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Azure data pipelines and systems, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Document processes, data flows, and system architectures to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Mentor junior team members and help build the team.
Role Qualifications
- At least 5 years working experience in Microsoft Azure/data platform tools with demonstrated skill in taking projects through the complete lifecycle from idea to released, supported product.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, or .NET.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data tools, including some combination of Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Fabric, Azure Data Factory.
Role Qualifications (cont.)
- Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with Azure SQL Database and/or MS SQL Server.
- Experience with ETL/ELT processes and API integration within the Azure ecosystem.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
- Professional certifications in Microsoft Azure (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect).
- Understanding of Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines and automation.
- Leadership experience
Key Values
- Strong sense of ownership (you build it, you run it, you fix it).
- Sense of curiosity: you’ll learn a lot about the business, and you’ll become an expert in many areas as you assimilate knowledge of data and its uses.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. You will evangelize the power of data and help teams around the business improve their operations through collaboration and consultation.
