Data Engineer (Remote)

Acuity Knowledge Partners is seeking an experienced technical data engineer to join the Data Engineer team. The Data Engineer team’s mission is to manage and deliver a vast set of financial and alternative datasets and insights across asset classes and strategies to our client’s diverse investment teams. The ideal candidate is a domain expert on major financial datasets who has technical skills to work with business and create enterprise data assets utilizing advanced data processing techniques and tools.

As a Data Engineer in Acuity Knowledge Partners, some of your Main Tasks will be to:

• Partner with data strategy and sourcing team on data requirements to design data pipelines and delivery structures

• Engage with vendors and technical teams to systematically ingest, evaluate, and create valuable data assets

• Engage with technical and non-technical clients as SME on data asset offerings

• Collaborate with core engineering team to create central capabilities to process, manage and distribute data assts at scale

• Apply robust data quality rules to systemically qualify data deliveries and guarantee the integrity of financial datasets

• Investigate and remediate domain-specific production issues escalated by the operations teams

• Enrich the central data catalog with advanced data profiling visualizations to enable discovery and evaluation

• Build up internal documentation and sample uses cases of the data sets

Some of your General Responsiblities will be to:

1. Implement and act in accordance with Acuity Knowledge Partners’ Information Security Policy.
2. Identify risks when working with external parties.
3. Ensure information security when dealing with customers.

Your essential experience and knowledge:

1. Bachelor’s degree in a STEM career.
2. Oral and written knowledge of English at a fluid level.
3. Advanced level knowledge of Python and SQL.
4. Exposure to large time series data (hundreds of millions to billions of rows). Knowledge of how to process, aggregate, do data quality checks on large data sets.
5. Experience in Real-time streaming, e.g. setting up streaming of news, and exchange orders.
6. Knowledge in Financial symbology: e.g. Sedol, Cusip, ISIN, symbols from data vendors.
