TITLE: Data Product Owner

LOCATION: Remote (EST Time Zone Hours)

ANTICIPATED DURATION: Direct Hire or Contract to Hire

Data Product Owner Responsibilities:

• Define and communicate the vision and roadmap for data products, aligning with business goals and stakeholder needs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives, user requirements, and product potential.
• Prioritize the product backlog, ensuring delivery of the most valuable features and improvements.
• Break down high-level business requirements into detailed stories and actionable tasks.
• Maintain and refine product backlogs with data engineering/analytics teams.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring alignment.
• Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to gather feedback and adjust the product roadmap as needed.
• Guide data engineering and analytics teams through the product development lifecycle, from concept to delivery.
• Ensure products are developed to specifications and within the timeline.
• Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of data products.
• Develop and maintain data governance frameworks and policies.
• Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify data product opportunities.
• Engage with end users to gather feedback, address pain points, and ensure product value.
• Define and track KPIs for continuous product improvement and optimization.
• Present performance reports to leadership, highlighting key metrics, opportunities, and potential risks.

Data Product Owner Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, IT, Business, or a related field.
• 3+ years of recent experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in a data-driven environment.
• Strong understanding of data engineering, data analytics, or data science.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Snowflake) and data tools (SQL, ETL, BI tools).
• Proven experience managing product backlogs in Agile environments (JIRA, Azure DevOps, etc.).
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to translate technical details into business terms.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
• Familiarity with data governance, data security, and compliance best practices.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders effectively.

Data Product Owner Preferred Experience:

• Background or experience with healthcare or financial data.
• Certified SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager is a plus.
• Experience working with platforms like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Azure Data Lake.
• Familiarity with data modeling, API management, and machine learning is advantageous.

The annual salary range for this position is $120,000 – 125,000 (dependent on factors including, but not limited to, client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
