The Director of Organization Development will focus on addressing our most impactful organizational opportunities to improve effectiveness in delivering results, shaping and reinforcing the desired culture, and setting employees up for success. This role will be responsible for diagnosing, solving, and implementing sustainable and innovative solutions for key organizational challenges while bringing along critical stakeholders and building organizational capability in the process.

This role will report into an Executive Director of Talent Management and OD and will partner closely with our leaders across the organization.

Professional Experience

  • Highly credible OD leader who has a proven track record in developing and operationalizing global organization capability, organization development, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of organizational strategies at complex, global life science companies known for progressive people practices.
  • Knowledge and experience of both theory and practical application of organizational diagnostics, transformational change, team effectiveness and development, capability building, and organizational design.
  • Experience diagnosing multifunctional processes and understanding the overt and covert human behaviors associated with how work gets done in an organization. Proven design, consultation, and facilitation experience is required.
  • A strong relationship builder with demonstrated ability to quickly establish trust and credibility with senior business executives. Ability to coach and provide feedback to leaders to move them through their resistance to change while building their leadership capabilities in the process.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn fast and work through high levels of ambiguity in a fast-paced business setting.
  • A proven systems thinker that can easily move from strategic to detailed thinking. Can speak the language of the business and not lead with theory or process.
  • Strategic and collaborative working style with ability to provide guidance and support across all levels and functions of an organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work with leaders to design holistic OD initiatives that will diagnose root cause issues and provide pragmatic, sustainable, innovative solutions for the organization. Lead all aspects of the initiative, including setting sponsorship, core team, resourcing, and deliverables in collaboration with the Sponsor.
  • Lead or support transformational initiatives leveraging a process consultation approach.
  • Assess the performance and effectiveness of existing initiatives and programs, identify best practices, and implement short-term and long-term action plans. Balance both strategic and tactical needs.
  • Build organizational capability where it is needed with a focus on leadership, talent development and career growth.
  • Identify unique needs or key business/organizational issues and develop a sustainable plan for how these issues can be addressed.
  • Provide input, direction, and guidance through collaboration with the business leaders to ensure organizational initiatives meet Parexel’s needs globally.
  • Stay relevant in all external OD trends, both inside and outside of industry. Build a strong external network to pressure test best practices and ensure that Parexel remains on the cutting edge in the OD space.

Education and Critical Criteria for Success

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Graduate degree in OD, Org Psychology, or similar is preferred.
  • 8-10 years of OD experience
  • Independent, consultative in approach with leaders, with business and financial acumen.
  • Proven successful process design, consultation, and facilitation experience.
  • Able to coach, influence, and provide feedback to leaders at all stages of an OD initiative.
  • Possess high learning agility, flexibility and proactivity to deliver solutions based on business needs.
  • Comfortable in ambiguity with the ability to ‘shape the fog’ for the leaders while working in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
